Steps to Choosing the Right Mobile App for Your Hotel

Mobile apps are growing in popularity and becoming an integral part of people’s daily life. There is no longer a need to carry your laptop or notebook when you are out travelling. With an iPhone or an Android handset you can keep your schedule and ensure that your contacts are able to reach you at any time: even if you are stuck in traffic. If you don’t own a smartphone yet, then you are in for a real treat: there are now plenty of choice from which you can choose the best app for you. But which one should you choose?

Price

It shouldn’t surprise you to learn that downloads cost money. However, this shouldn’t put you off, particularly if you are only going to be using the app on a limited basis (for example, during your off-peak season). The majority of hotels will let you pay as you download, which makes the cost for both services relatively equal. However, it is worth bearing in mind that the majority of hotels will not charge for data use when first booking. For this reason, it is worth making sure you ask before making any upfront payments. Remember, a refund will not be given if the app proves unfruitful.

Functionality

Some will argue that having an app that does nothing but list your contact details can be more functional than having a website. However, there are several differences here as well. If you are only planning to use it at certain times of the year then consider how useful your data will be if you only ever get a fraction of a second’s glimpse of your booking or address.

Interface

Will it be easier to navigate and use? This will largely depend upon what purpose you intend for it. Look at the screen size, do you think you can access it easily? If not, then a more simple option may be preferable.
